Good news from atWork Australia

Michael entered the atWork Australia office in Salisbury, SA, when he needed assistance the most.

With medical conditions that led to drug use, minimal work experience and no driver licence, Michael was looking for a helping hand getting into employment for the first time in nine months.

Upon entering the office, he met with Job Coach, Klaudia. From the moment Klaudia met Michael, she could see how much he wanted to work. She was looking forward to their journey together.

In order to get Michael into meaningful employment, the pair sat down and discussed Michael’s employment past, skills, hobbies and his goals for the future. From this, Klaudia was able to create a tailored job plan to get Michael where he wants to be.

A key factor of this job plan was getting Michael into a short-term position. This was to not only gain experience, but to build his confidence in the workplace.

After a successful interview, in new clothing supplied by Klaudia, he was offered the position.

Whilst in this job, atWork Australia assisted Michael with driving lessons to set him on his way to a drivers licence as well as lodging an application to get a Birth Certificate.

Michael was later successful in obtaining his driver licence. We were then able to support him with fuel cards to ensure he could travel safely.

With high confidence levels, Michael felt he was ready for full-time hours, thus, Klaudia and Michael began job searching.

After finding a suitable position, the pair submitted a job application. He was later successful in this position and is now working full-time hours as a Recycling Attendant.

Michael is very appreciative for all the support he has received from Klaudia and the team in Salisbury. He is grateful that they took the time to, not only help him, but give him a chance.

Michael is thoroughly enjoying his position and has his eye on a management role within the company.

“Michael now has the confidence and motivation to be able to go into work every day and know having that extra money can help in the long run.” said Klaudia, Job Coach.
