Bruce is delighted to be employed in his area of expertise as a printer after connecting with atWork Australia for tailored support and assistance in securing work.
The 62-year-old from Miller, NSW worked for a long time as a successful printer but became unemployed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
With over 20 years’ experience in the printing industry, Bruce was determined to secure work and was positive about his employment prospects even amidst the current situation.
Bruce lives with a range of health conditions including osteoarthritis, asthma, gout and post-traumatic stress disorder and even though it impacts his daily life, he has always maintained a positive outlook towards work.
Bruce was referred to atWork Australia in October 2020 where he met his Disability Employment Services Job Coach, Adriana, in the Miller office.
Bruce was eager to find work and Adriana could see straight away that Bruce was very committed and determined the moment he signed up with atWork Australia.
Together, Adriana and Bruce worked on creating a new resume and cover letters and assisted him with job search and interview preparation.
Through his job search, Bruce found a job opportunity with a local custom screen printer and manufacturer. Bruce secured an interview and together with Adriana, they practiced mock interview skills in preparation.
Also, Adriana assisted with securing his job by liaising with the employer and offering government incentives such as a wage subsidy to help him gain sustainable employment.
Bruce says: “atWork Australia’s service have been good and I’m thankful for the support provided by the atWork Australia team. I am very happy and sleeping better”.
Job Coach Adriana is proud of Bruce, particularly as he never let his age or other barriers get in the way of his vocational goals.
“Bruce is a great client and I wish him all the best,” says Adriana.
