Workforce Australia client, Kamal, came to the Lakemba, NSW, atWork Australia office looking for support to enter the workforce.
Her Job Coach, Nusrat, learnt that Kamal was affected by challenges and had low confidence when it came to interviews and job searching, due to knock backs in the past.
To begin with, Nusrat referred Kamal to our in-house program, Ready Set Go, which is aimed at helping clients understand the Workforce Australia program.
The course kick started Kamal’s love of learning; she was highly motivated to move into employment. Kamal thought warehousing work might be of interest to her and matched her abilities.
Nusrat then referred her to our Jobs Now Warehousing program which taught her how to look for roles, how to tailor her resume and network in that specific industry.
She then participated in Powered by Positivum Warehousing. A five-day training program designed to develop practical work readiness skills through improved well-being and industry specific skills training.
As part of the course, Kamal received micro credentials from a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) supporting her to upskill in the industry she was interested in.
After Kamal attended the training workshop, she was feeling more confident, and developed a more positive outlook for her life. Her facilitator, Wendy, found Kamal to be eager to return to work.
“She was engaged during the workshop and confidently conducted cold calling to contact potential employers every week to enquiry about vacancies,” said Wendy.
“She researched the company information to gather background knowledge, which impressed the employer, showing that she is well prepared and eager to work.”
