Workforce Australia client, Andrew told his Job Coach, Sari, that he was ‘stuck in a rut’ and needed help to progress towards employment.
“Andrew was ambitious, but he lacked the tools he needed to gain employment,” said Sari.
Andrew was living with a wrist injury, had been unemployed for two years. This meant he didn’t have the funds to run his car and lived in an area with very limited public transport. It also meant he was often unable to afford credit for his phone and was often without internet to complete job searches.
Sari, from the Richmond atWork Australia office in New South Wales, worked with Andrew and identified the biggest support for him would be to upgrade his resume and support him with his applications online.
The atWork Australia team called around employers they knew and were able to secure Andrew a job as a Forklift Driver.
Now with income coming in, the team connected Andrew to the Mary MacKillop Today organisation to help him with a no interest loan for his car registration, to support him to get to and from his new job.
“Andrew said his life has changed dramatically since gaining employment, allowing him to live a better lifestyle, including eating better, feeling better, affording car repairs and the ability to pay for medical and dental,” said Sari.
“Andrew is so happy now when I see him. He is happy in his new stable job with a supportive team.”
