About the Invictus Games Sydney 2018

Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, started Invictus Games in 2014. Whilst visiting the Warrior Games in the US, the Duke of Sussex saw the positive impact sport could have on the recovery and rehabilitation of wounded, injured and ill servicemen and women.

Prince Harry was inspired to take the idea home and launch a similar event in the UK. The Invictus Games Foundation was established and in 2014 London hosted the inaugural Invictus Games, at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, with more than 400 competitors from 13 nations.

The Invictus Games have previously been in London and Orlando. The Sydney Games will see more than 500 competitors from 18 nations around the world competing in 11 adaptive sports. The Games also recognises the 1000 family and friends there in support of competitors, and for their role and the challenges they share in supporting wounded warriors.

We look forward to what Sydney will bring in 2018, with the Games on from 20 to 27 October at Sydney Olympic Park.
