26-year-old Billie from Sanctuary Point, NSW approached atWork Australia with a passion for supporting others.

Billie lives with anxiety, depression and recently had to have ankle surgery due to a broken ankle, leaving her without the ability to drive.

When Billie joined the Vincentia office of atWork Australia she was matched with Donna, a dedicated local Job Coach.

Donna set about finding out Billie’s aspirations and passions before they set about searching for a job that was right for her. Billie expressed her desire for a job where she could “give back to the community”.

While Donna was searching for a role for Billie, Donna was also supporting Billie’s mental health to ensure she felt ready for work.

Billie stated she was very ready to get back into work, she just wanted to find her niche.

As Billie has a strong passion for helping others, Donna was able to place Billie into a Certificate III In Individual Support, paid for by atWork Australia.

Due to atWork Australia’s wide network of employers, Donna contacted a local, NDIS provider Remmy to see if there was the possibility Billie could train while working.

Remmy were happy to provide Billie with training while she was undergoing her studies.

Donna was able to give Billie the good news that she was now employed. Billie was “over the moon” to find out about the role and started the very next week.

Billie is finally working in a role where she can give back to her community and states, “I love the people I work with and the kids are great also. It feels like a family”

Remmy is also glad about their new recruit, with Billie’s supervisor saying she is “immensely pleased with Billie” and looks forward to expanding the business with Billie as a carer once her course is finished.
