Quote reads “The biggest thing I learned is that you can prioritise yourself sometimes. Just taking 5 minutes a day for yourself is necessary to be the best version of yourself,” said ParentsNext client Bo - pictured.

Bo started with atWork Australia’s ParentsNext office in Victoria Park, WA, when her child was just two years old.

She was learning to juggle being a single parent and looking to support her family.

Bo’s goal was to work at the local school, so her Job Coach with ParentsNext supported Bo to enroll in a Certificate III in Education Support.

Bo’s Job Coach also referred her into our Best Version of Me course.

Best Version of Me is an eight-week course supporting parents with everything from general health, building confidence and motivation to identifying and acting on your personal and professional goals.

Bo completed this course along with atWork Australia’s wellness course.

The skills Bo learnt during Best Version of Me and our wellness course have helped her to prioritise herself more, which she believes has in turn supported her in her parenting.

“The biggest thing I learned is that you can prioritise yourself sometimes. Just taking 5 minutes a day for yourself is necessary to be the best version of yourself,” said Bo.

She had almost finished her course when Covid made it difficult for Bo to complete the placement she needed but she kept up her commitment and determination.

atWork Australia’s Job Coach Frances supported Bo to secure a placement by calling her training company multiple times on her behalf.

This led to a placement at the local school and in turn led to paid employment. Her first in more than 10 years.

“Bo was so happy when she got the job at the school where she was completing her placement. She felt like she was doing a really good job and that it was what she was meant to be doing,” said Frances.

Now Bo is working casually as an education assistant, giving her financial freedom and the work life balance she needs to support her family.

Every year, atWork Australia helps thousands of clients, like Bo expand their skills, qualifications or provide non-vocational support, to help them gain the right job with the right employer. Call us today on 1300 080 856 or enquire online to find out how we can help you meet your career goals.
