56-year-old Brett was in search of suitable and sustainable employment after a workplace accident left him with a severe back injury.
Brett had to learn to walk again and was determined not to let his accident get him down. However, he soon found it a struggle to find employment and began to think no one wanted him with his injury.
Up until this point, Brett had worked and laboured his entire life. He was also still adjusting to understanding his capacity after the injury.
Brett came to atWork Australia, Inala QLD and met with Job Coach, Kerri, who helped identify his barriers, address concerns, and supported him in finding suitable employment.
“Brett came to us, willing and very able to work. He just needed the extra hand in searching, marketing himself, and being referred to potential employers,” said Kerri.
“We put Brett in touch with a local employer, Spring Team, who offered flexibility in the type of work which suited Brett’s background.”
Brett is now a landscaper for Spring Team, which offers cleaning and gardening services to private and NDIS customers in the Gold Coast and Brisbane region.

Brett has been working for a month and Kerri is very proud of his achievements.
