26-year-old, Disability Employment Services client, Cameron, met with the atWork Australia office in Narellan, NSW, looking for sustainable employment, after spending the past five-years unemployed.
For his first virtual appointment (as a result of a COVID lockdown), he was met with Job Coach, Nicole. Within this consultation the pair discussed Cameron’s goals, employment history, his ideal position as well as any potential barriers and concerns that he might have on the journey to employment.
With no licence, Cameron relies on family and friends to get him where he needs to be. As a result, having employment within the local area is a necessity. He also discussed his vision loss that effects his peripheral vision and his far sight. This was another priority for his future positions.
Great time was spent with Cameron discussing what specific roles that he would enjoy, and that would also not be a safety risk as a result of his vision.
Based on these conversations, Nicole and Cameron created a tailored job plan. They also onboarded Employer Engagement Consultant, Janine, to assist in finding the perfect workplace for Cameron.
Whilst the job search was happening, Nicole also took a deeper look into his NDIS package and was able to resolve concerns with transportation.
Nicole and Janine found the perfect casual position for Cameron, and after an interview with the employer, Cameron was offered the position.
After spending the past five-years unemployed, Cameron is very excited to be working once again.
