Due to having a liver transplant in 2019, Charlie was left with no option but to take a break from the workforce. He had been unemployed since then and required special assistance with daily living activities until he eventually recovered.

Charlie registered with atWork Australia’s Disability Employment Service in December of 2020 to gain assistance in finding work. At that stage, he had limited work goals, physical limitations that restricted the type of work he could attain and mental health concerns.

Employment Engagement Consultant Nicole discussed with Charlie his interests, which revealed to be driving roles. Nicole contacted prospective employers and referred his resume. Nicole and Sravan also assisted Charlie with interview preparations.

Charlie and Job Coach Sravan, together with Employment Engagement Consultant Nicole, contacted several employers and arranged job interviews. Charlie was looking for a driving job however, most of the jobs around required an MR (Medium Rigid) Truck Licence. Nicole contacted Steven, the Manager at the Organic Warehouse, who was looking for new staff to assist in supplying restaurants with organic fruit and vegetables. This job was ideal for Charlie. Nicole arranged for Charlie to have a meeting with Steve who was happy to offer Charlie the role.

Nicole met with Charlie on a few occasions and arranged interviews where, despite being unsuccessful in many, Nicole reminded Charlie to remain positive and encouraged him to keep applying. When the position became available at the Organic Warehouse Nicole referred Charlie as she knew it would be a great opportunity for him.

Charlie was admittedly nervous at first however, after meeting Steve at the Organic Warehouse, Charlie was reassured about this position.

Charlie and EEC Nicole have been in regular contact and she said that he has thanked her on many occasions for assisting him with employment.
