To Workforce Australia client, Coby, tailored servicing from atWork Australia has meant everything on his journey to sustainable employment.
At the age of 19, Coby had been out of the workforce for two years. He was seeking to make some bold moves on his employment journey, so he reached out to the atWork Australia team.
When he first entered the services, Coby was attending the Corrimal, NSW office. But after moving suburbs, he was transferred to the Shellharbour office and was partnered with Job Coach, Ryleigh.
From the moment that Ryleigh met Coby, she could see his potential, and how valuable he would be to any employer. It would just be a matter of boosting his confidence in himself, and his ability to perform in the workplace.
With an internal First Steps to Success (FSTS) event coming up in the area, Ryleigh suggested that Coby attends. It would be a great opportunity for Coby to meet a range of local employers that were looking to hire eager candidates such as himself.
“At the event Coby was introduced to a training provider that specialised in vocational education and training. They spoke about the range of courses they offer, and Coby expressed an interest in a hospitality short course.” Said Ryleigh.
“Due to the nature of the event, we were able to sign Coby up to the course on the day.” She added.
This short course covered Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA), Responsible Conduct of Gaming (RCG), Barista and Food Safety Qualifications. Whilst completing the course, he interviewed for a full-time position that he was interested in. He was successful in this interview.
After hearing the good news from Coby, Ryleigh and the atWork Australia team in Shellharbour, provided financial assistance in purchasing work boots, and opal card assistance for transport to work.
Coby has been in this position for 6 months and is enjoying it as much as the day he first started. He is grateful for all the support from the Corrimal and Shellharbour atWork Australia teams.
