Workforce Australia client, Steve*, entered the atWork Australia office in Burnie, TAS, after leaving a toxic working environment. With his confidence levels and trust in others at an all time low, he reached out for assistance.
The 36-year-old was paired with friendly Job Coach, Laura. Within his first appointment, Laura listened to his story and his previous experiences. After expressing he was experiencing anxiety as depression, Laura suggested he attended our in-house Wellness Services to receive professional support and guidance.
After his enrolment, Laura worked on building up his confidence within himself as well as his trust with employers; a result of his previous experiences. At this same time, he was also faced with some family issues leading to extra caring responsibilities.
The sum of all these factors made him both excited and nervous to re-enter the workforce. Laura ensured him that we would support him within all stages of this journey and that together they would make a great team.
Whilst still attending his wellness sessions, Steve and Laura worked on what his future work would look like and what was required to get there. After expressing an interest within community services, he was later enrolled within a Certificate III in Community Services.
He has stated that this course has not only allowed him to upskill, but it has also allowed him to learn a lot more about himself.
The support that Steve has received has been a great help. He is now comfortable talking about the issues he has been having, whilst also been given the reassurance he needs to move forward with his future endeavors. Steve has felt like he has been given the push he needs to step out of his comfort zone.
