After spending the past two years volunteering, Disability Employment Services client, Tania, was ready for full time employment.
Tania reached out to the friendly team at atWork Australia Tewantin on the Sunshine Coast to assist her.
In her initial consultation, Tania met with Job Coach, Connor. They discussed her employment past, her employment aspirations and how we can assist her in achieving these goals.
Tania lives with a psychological condition that affects how she works. With a limited support network and employment history, Tania was finding it difficult to get where she wants to be.
Connor was looking forward to assisting Tania on her journey to achieve sustainable employment, as he could see how any employer would be lucky to have Tania on their team. He ensured that Tania understood that the perfect position and employer is out there for her.
In preparation for job interviews, Connor and Tania worked on creating the perfect resume and cover letter to impress potential employers. He also worked with Tania to help her gain job-ready skills.
An opportunity to work full time as a cleaner at a local school emerged and Tania expressed interest in this position. Connor put her forward for this position and she was asked to attend an interview.
After a very successful interview, she was offered the position and she was overjoyed to start working full-time.
In preparation for work, Connor assisted Tania is attaining a blue card as well as the required work uniforms. Fuel cards were also offered to Tania to ensure that she could get to work safely.
The pair were able to overcome Tania’s barriers to employment through working together. Tania consistently engaged with the team and always had a can-do attitude.
All of Tania’s hard work has paid off and she is loving her new position and the impendence it has provided. She has learnt that hard work and determination does pay off.
