Daryl came to atWork Australia’s Wanneroo, WA, office to get support from the Workforce Australia team to find employment. Daryl was previously a stay-at-home dad, but now his children have grown up, he is eager to return to the workforce.
Daryl attended his initial appointment with atWork Australia as he was finding it difficult to find the support he needed. However, he got quite a surprise and was amazed by how quick he came across his first opportunity.
Sometimes in life, timing is everything. When Daryl met his Job Coach, Sasha, for his initial appointment they discussed his employment history and what positions he might be interested in. By chance, atWork Australia had one of their key employer partners, LGC Traffic Management, in the office delivering information sessions on their Traffic Controller positions. Sasha asked Daryl if he had ever considered being a traffic controller and if he would be interested in joining the information session.
Daryl attended the information session and very quickly decided that was the career path he wanted to pursue. Daryl’s Job Coach, Sasha, wasted no time and immediately booked him in to complete his traffic control course. Later in the same week, Daryl completed his White Card and was one step closer to starting his new career. In the lead up to starting his new job, atWork Australia were able to provide funding to purchase his personal protective equipment and a two-way radio that he would require to start work.
Daryl was very impressed with the support he received from his Job Coach, Sasha. Daryl said, “The team have been super-efficient, supportive and really care about my future.”
This new opportunity has helped Daryl reconnect with people, the community and provided him with financial stability. atWork Australia have enjoyed supporting Daryl and watching him progress on his journey. He is now in a role with opportunities to progress in his career.
