Lia was lacking in confidence when she reached out to atWork Australia for support. The 23-year-old had no previous work experience and didn’t know what industry she wanted to work in, making the task of finding a job all the more daunting.

To support her quest for employment, Lia, from Bellambi, NSW, turned to atWork Australia’s Corrimal branch. She was put in touch with Job Coach Taylah, who could see her determination and potential from their very first meeting.

Despite her minimal experience, Lia showed a determination and willingness to undergo further education and training to make her suitable for any role.

Taylah supported this determination, signing Lia up to an Employability Skills Training program which boosted her confidence when it came to applying for jobs.

Lia also underwent a police check to help her stand out in job applications in case the employer needed it, with Taylah using referrals and reverse marketing to continue guiding Lia into finding the type of work she wanted.

Lia was ecstatic when she found out she was offered the interview as a Customer Solutions Specialist, a customer-facing role that would see Lia’s personality shine.

atWork Australia supported Lia throughout the interview process, including interview preparation and purchasing appropriate clothing.

Lia was thrilled when she found out she had been successful in her interview, and since starting her new role with Probe Aged Care in early August, Lia has thrived.

Taylah described Lia’s journey as “inspiring” and highlighted her willingness to “give anything a go” as one of the keys to her success in finding a job.

Taylah said: “Lia’s journey has been nothing short of inspiring. Despite her minimal experience, her willingness to give anything a go is what guided her into her current employment. She is now hoping to stay in the role long term, and is grateful for what myself, and the atWork Australia team as a whole, have done for her during her progression into sustainable employment.”

She added: “I could not be prouder of Lia. Her go-getter attitude and willingness to give different things a try is what led her to where she is today. I am so glad she has employment within her desired industry.”
