Motivated, 52-years old, Joseph lives in Success, Western Australia. He reached out to atWork Australia to assist him in finding long-term, meaningful employment. Joseph lives with various health conditions including Ischaemic Heart Disease, Crohn’s Disease, a respiratory disorder and Diabetes. He also lives with depression.
Joseph has a limited employment history and has difficulties meeting new people which makes it challenging for him to pursue job opportunities. Living with a health condition and having limited work experiences has caused low motivation and a lack of confidence. Previously, Joseph has relied on word of mouth to secure work and has found the digital age of applying for jobs online quite challenging due to his limited computer literacy. Joseph was introduced to his Job Coach, Alastair, at the atWork Australia office in Success (now located in Yangebup). Alastair worked closely with Joseph to create a new resume outlining his skills and expertise. Once finalised, Alastair organised one-on-one job searching sessions aiming at reviewing advertised vacancies and identifying a variety of roles Joseph would like to apply for.
Alastair then reached out to atWork Australia’s Employment Engagement Consultant, Simon, who attended a job interview with Joseph and negotiated with the employer to secure Joseph’s employment. Joseph actually found out that he had secured the role before his Job Coach. He called Alastair as soon as he got home from the interview and was so excited to finally have had a breakthrough and that all the hard work over the last few weeks has been worthwhile. He was ecstatic that he was starting work the following day and was incredibly grateful for the assistance he has been given by the entire team.
