After 12 months of unemployment, Dianne’s attitude and positivity towards finding employment has never wavered. Dianne came to atWork Australia’s Ravenswood, Tasmania, office to get tailored support from the Disability Employment Services team on her employment journey.
When Dianne met her Job Coach, Ella, she shared that she was living with a kidney condition and that her health concerns were impacting on her mental health. Dianne and Ella began discussing suitable employment opportunities, Dianne advised that she would love to work in the aged care industry. Often, knowing which career path you want to take can be half the challenge. Since Dianne had a clear goal, Ella was able to quickly guide her in the right direction.
Ella assisted Dianne to enroll and commence studying a Certificate III in Individual Support. Throughout Dianne’s journey with atWork Australia, her health has presented multiple challenges; it is a credit to Dianne’s determination that she has constantly found the strength and motivation to keep moving forward.
Additionally, to further prepare Dianne for the workplace, atWork Australia supported her to obtain a Police Check, complete a Working with Vulnerable People registration and a First Aid course. Now Dianne had gained these valuable new skills, Ella bought in atWork Australia’s Employer Engagement team, who would provide additional support in connecting Dianne with local employers.
With the whole team now in Dianne’s corner, she was successful in securing a position as a Support Worker in the aged care industry. Dianne’s Job Coach, Ella, said, “Throughout Dianne’s journey with atWork Australia she has worked incredibly hard to gain the skills to secure her dream job, we are so proud of her.”
