After long-term unemployement Donna, 60, approached the atWork Australia team seeking to get back into the workforce.
Unfortunatley due to her age, Donna was faced with barriers from potential employers, tarnishing her confidence and questioning her ability within the workforce. As a result, she was unable to secure employment until she spoke with her Job Coach at the Northam, WA, atWork Australia office.
When Donna first met with the atWork Australia team, Donna was very shy and gravitated towards people she knew; she was not comfortable getting outside her comfort zone.
Her Job Coach was able to assist Donna along her employment journey. They sat with Donna conducting mock interviews and worked through the JOBS@work program as a Workforce Australia client.
Upon engaging in this one-on-one support, Donna flourished and her confidence was high. Her attendance improved and she was excited to get into the workforce once again.
Her Job Coach got into touch with a local tourism provider about their current cleaner vacancy. Donna was successful in being offered an interview with the employer.
Upon this offering, atWork Australia provided Donna with a fuel card to ensure she was able to attend the interview.
As a result of her skills, hard work and new found confidence, we were pleased to congratulate Donna on being offered the part-time position.
Donna was then put forward with another employer to help assist with cleaning an office in Northam to top up her hours. She was also successful in this position.
The team at Northam were so pleased to be a part of Donna’s journey in securing, not one, but two positions.
The Northam atWork Australia team continues to see Donna; with her regularly coming in to the office with a big smile on her face, thanking the team for all their support and providing the office with chocolates.
She states no one has cared for her and her mental health the way this team has and said that she could not have gained employment without the support from atWork Australia.
