A chef by trade for 30 years, Andrew fell ill and had to take off a significant amount of time from work.

From Hamilton Hill, WA, Andrew was unemployed for seven years. His health condition led him to mental health challenges and left him homeless for a period of time.

Andrew wanted to find work, however, was unsure of the type of employment that would be suitable for him. He was unable to re-enter the workforce as a chef, thus reached out to atWork Australia to provide support and guidance.

Andrew was introduced to his Job Coach, Victoria, who worked closely with Andrew to find a new employment pathway. Victoria enrolled Andrew into the Jobs Now program to help with resume building and interview practice that would give him the confidence to apply for jobs.

Andrew was keen to find employment, aiming to do the best at everything he focuses on.

Victoria reached out to a local employer, Alinea Inc who have worked with atWork Australia before when looking for candidates, utilising the wage subsidies and support.

Andrew was offered the role of Factory Hand in a casual capacity with Alinea Inc and was very excited and looking forward to starting his new job.

“I am confident Andrew will thrive in his job.”

Andrew said he is thankful to Victoria for everything she has done to support him with finding employment. Andrew continued “you have looked after me very well and found me the perfect job for my health and general wellbeing. Thank you very much.”

Victoria said, “working with Andrew has always been pleasant. Andrew showed willingness to work and get back into employment. He was always so positive. I am confident Andrew will thrive in his job.”
