Kristina is an engaged and pro-active client, working hard to overcome her barriers to turn her life around.
From Melton, Victoria, Kristina (27) lives with a mental health condition and has had a history of housing instability, substance abuse and experience with the justice system. Kristina’s past has made it difficult for her to find suitable and sustainable employment.
Kristina was introduced to her Job Coach, Jessica, who provided support for both her mental health and the financial assistance she needed to be able to attend interviews and dress to look and feel her most confident. Jessica also provided her with access to training courses and built her confidence by helping her prepare for interviews.
Jessica has also been Kristina’s biggest advocate with employers and helped her overcome some of the challenges she had faced in the past when looking for work.
Jessica says, “Kristina’s journey has been phenomenal to watch”. Kristina has been pro-active in engaging with atWork Australia, this dedication has helped her to find employment as a warehouse pick packer.
Kristina and her employer receive Post Placement Support to ensure Kristina maintains in employment and has the support to succeed. Kristina is going well in her new role; the ongoing coaching and mentoring enabling her to sustain motivation and reach her goals.
When Kristina found out she had the job she was over the moon. Kristina was constantly telling Jessica how excited she was and couldn’t wait to start her new job. Kristina has been very thankful to the atWork Australia staff who have assisted her along the way.
Jessica says, “my personal journey to becoming a Job Coach has been able to guide Kristina by showing her a relatable journey. I have found that sharing parts of my story have been somewhat of a role model; to show Kristina that life can change for the better. My coaching skills have assisted Kristina with maintaining her hope through all the opportunities that didn’t lead to employment. Kristina always managed to get up after every knockdown.”
Kristina says, “Jessica has gone above and beyond to get me through this lockdown period by helping me find employment, and I have managed to sustain that job”.
Kristina continues, “my goal was to start a future for myself.”
Kristina openly shares her journey and is now on a path to achieve her goals. Kristina is set to have her children back before the end of the year.
