Good news from atWork Australia

Preparing for an interview can be stressful, overwhelming, and scary for anyone. Only five weeks after connecting with atWork Australia’s Disability Employment Services team in Moorooka, Queensland, Margret* was preparing for her first interview in fifteen years.

When Margret met her Job Coach, Teddy, she advised she had been out of the workforce for quite some time and she was a bit nervous, but really excited about looking for work. Teddy assured her that it was completely natural to be nervous and reassured her that atWork Australia would be here to support her every step of the way.

To help speed up the process, Teddy introduced Margret to atWork Australia’s Employer Engagement Consultant, Monika, to assist in the job hunt. The timing could not have been more perfect; Monika had just had an employer reach out to her looking for a person to fill an administration position. Monika provided Margret’s resume to the employer, Margret was then shortlisted and invited for an interview.

Margret was incredibly excited and could not believe how quickly things were starting to happen. In preparation for her interview, Margret and Monika practiced mock interview questions to help build her confidence to communicate her skills and abilities in the interview. Additionally, atWork Australia were able to provide funding for Margret to purchase new clothes and have her hair done, so she could feel confident and put her best foot forward. Margret’s Employer Engagement Consultant, Monika, said “Margret sent me a photo of herself before her interview, she looked fabulous in her new interview attire.”

Margret was absolutely thrilled when she heard the good news that she secured the position. She had done a great job in her first interview in fifteen years and she secured employment.

atWork Australia have enjoyed supporting Margret on her journey back to employment and are incredibly proud of the progress she has made since walking into our office.

“The support that atWork Australia have provided to me means so much and I am incredibly grateful,” said Margret.
