Self-esteem and confidence were low for Christine, the anxiety she experienced left her with physical and emotional side effects that were impacting her ability to interact actively with her daily life.
From Moss Vale, NSW, Christine, joined atWork Australia in 2017 and was on a medical exemption for 12 months. Christine met her Job Coach, Kristy, in 2018. At this point she had low self-belief, saying “who will employ someone like me?”
However, after working with Kristy for over a year, Christine began to feel encouraged. Kristy worked closely with Christine at each appointment with strategies on how to manage her anxiety and encouraged her to utilise the mental health services that were available to her.

The journey for Christine has been overwhelming at times; in the beginning she was unable to leave her house to attend fortnightly appointments with her Job Coach.
However, with some mentoring from Kristy, Christine has been able to secure full-time employment with Happy Cat Dry Cleaners and Laundry.
Christine was ecstatic about her job offer, calling her Job Coach, Kristy, immediately to tell her the fantastic news. Christine has said she is “forever thankful” to Kristy for “being so kind and helpful”.
Overall, Christine was unemployed for 14 years and is excited to have made personal progress that has allowed her to gain full-time employment.
Kristy said, “it was an absolute pleasure working with Christine and watching her fulfill her goals with employment, and the positive changes she made within herself to reach these goals”.
