Frank originally came to atWork Australia’s South Tamworth, NSW, office in 2020 to get support from the Disability Employment Services team. At this point in Frank’s life, he had limited qualifications, he lived with osteoarthritis and a brain Injury.
To support Frank to progress towards employment, atWork Australia were able to assist him to obtain his Heavy Rigid (HR) Truck Licence and a Forklift Ticket. These new qualifications opened the door to new employment opportunities, and Frank soon secured new employment.
Now, nearly two and a half years after Frank’s initial engagement with atWork Australia, Frank was looking for a new job, and due to his previous positive experience, he decided to return to atWork Australia to get additional support to pursue his next employment opportunity.
On Frank’s return to atWork Australia, he was connected with his new Job Coach, Michelle. As Frank was a returning client it made for a smooth process, Michelle could view his qualifications and previous work history. The pair had a conversation about what Frank had been doing for the previous few years and set some achievable goals for the future. As a starting point, Michelle updated Frank’s resume to reflect his most recent employment.
Now with an up-to-date resume, Michelle started contacting employers on Frank’s behalf, searching for suitable employment opportunities. Michelle came across an employer who was not advertising, but was willing to provide Frank an opportunity, and only three weeks after re-joining atWork Australia, Frank was back in suitable employment, in his truck, doing a job he enjoyed.
