As a young man, Beaudon had goals and aspirations to become a chef, however, was unsure of where to start. Living with anxiety, Beaudon needed some assistance to build his confidence and help land his dream job.

From Wonthaggi, Victoria, Beaudon, 28, had been unemployed for three years before joining atWork Australia and connecting with Job Coach, Laura.

Beaudon had been seeking employment in the hospitality industry, however, was having no luck due to his lack of experience and limited confidence. Laura and Beaudon discussed various option for him and set about putting in place a strategy with corresponding goals.

Laura helped Beaudon update his resume, canvas for suitable opportunities and coached him on the interview process. Laura and Beaudon worked together to overcome the barriers that had been preventing Beaudon from finding his dream job. This started with Beaudon attending regular appointments and following up potential opportunities with a resume drop to build his confidence.

Beaudon started to feel relieved and excited to have support with finding his dream job.

Beaudon secured a job as a kitchen hand; the perfect way to build skills and confidence that would position him favourably as he worked his way to securing an apprenticeship with a local employer. He said that “it still feels surreal that I have found suitable, sustainable employment”.

When Beaudon found out he had secured employment with the local employer he said, “I am so happy, I feel like things are falling into place for me.”

Laura has noticed Beaudon’s growing confidence since he commenced paid employment and he has expressed his appreciation for her ongoing support; he knows he can talk through any concerns he has with Laura.

Beaudon said “I am looking forward to finishing my chefs’ apprenticeship and becoming a qualified chef.”
