Jacob (21), moved from Kalgoorlie to Mandurah, WA so he could seek employment and a better life. Jacob had faced adversity due to substance abuse from the age of 10. Jacob was determined to start his life fresh and secure a job.
Jacob reached out to atWork Australia in Mandurah where he met Job Coach Leonie in the jobactive program. Leonie referred Jacob to EST programs where Jacob was trained on how to use computers. Jacob was further supported to obtain clothing for employment, smart riders, driving lessons and a police clearance.
Jacob was referred to Aushield through an Employer Engagement Consultant and with the assistance of Leonie, Jacob was able to secure a Trade Assistant role. Jacob was further offered a role with Randstand and is happy working in another role which he started in November.
When Leonie told Jacob about his new role he was: “excited.”
Jacob says: “Leonie put a lot of trust and belief in me, motivated me every day even when I didn’t. Leonie has helped me get my license and now my third job considering when I started down and out! I have never had a job, so thank you so very much Leonie from the bottom of my heart.”
Jacob adds: “I appreciated everything you have done for me! I would also like to thank atWork Australia for helping get my bicycle to get to my new job starting tomorrow. I also want to say to everyone out there, don’t ever give up. Keep going and push yourself every day. ”
