From the moment Disability Employment Services client, James, met Job Coach, Mary, and Service Manager, Fran, the team were determined to find James employment that he loved.
After his previous employer shut down, James nervously entered the atWork Australia office in Miller, NSW, with his Aunty for support.
Within his first appointment with the team, Mary wanted to get to know James, so she could best support him into employment. But this proved to be a challenge; because of his shyness he would not say every much.

To best get to know James, Mary asked him a series of questions about his employment past, hobbies, interests and values. These all became pillars of his Job Plan.
Based off his previous work experience and keen interest within the sector, Fran began to reach out to warehouses in the local area to see if they had any suitable positions for James. Within her searches, she came across BOM Timber. They were interested in meeting James, so a work trial was organised.
After a very successful trial, James was offer full-time employment as a Warehouse Assistant and he was overjoyed.
Mary states, “It has been a beautiful experience to watch James; from when he first attended atWork Australia to see him now in the workplace with so much confidence and happiness in his eyes.”
James pulled a heart string from day one due to his gentle soul and his commitment to attending his appointments.
Fran continues to visit James at work and is happy to report that he is extremely happy. He really fits into the work culture and has many colleagues he has befriended.
