After facing difficulties finding a full-time position that catered to his situation, Workforce Australia client, Jarod, entered the atWork Australia office in Invermay, TAS.
Jarod was casually employed, receiving minimal hours. He was searching for a full-time position that would allow him to support his two young children and partner.
Jarod’s partner works in the afternoon, so he needed to also secure appropriate child-care if he was to work afternoons too.
These barriers to employment were discussed with his Job Coach, Mary, in his initial consultation. Together the pair worked on a tailored job plan that would progress him into full-time employment.
Jarrod had plan of where he wanted to work as well as an idea of the income he would like to receive; all with the goal to support his family.
The Mill Worker position required Jarod to have several tickets and licenses. These included – White Card, First Aid, Working at Heights, and Working in Confined Spaces. Anna researched where he could obtain these tickets in the local area and enrolled him.
Fuel vouchers were also given to Jarod for travelling to the courses and trainings. He found navigating to these locations difficult, so he provided Anna with a map for future clients.
Whilst completing these courses, Anna and Jarod worked on creating the perfect cover letter to impress potential employers. This ensured that when a position became available, he was ready to apply.
Several weeks later, Anna became aware of a full-time Mill Worker position at a local distribution centre. Jarod applied for this position with the help of Anna.
He was successful in gaining this position and extremely happy when he found out, knowing that he can now provide a stable income for his growing family.
Anna assisted Jarod financially in this next stage of his employment journey by purchasing the necessary work clothing, Personal Protective Equipment, and fuel to get to work within his first week.
