Kyle has been out of work since 2016. The 25-year-old was living with anxiety and depression and found himself lacking confidence in looking for new employment on his own.
Kyle turned to atWork Australia in Joondalup to help him find a new job. He was referred to Job Coach Melissa, who worked hard to build Kyle’s confidence and find a role that suited his skills and experience.
Melissa was aware that Kyle wasn’t finding sustainable employment. She knew of Kyle’s limited job experience and that he lacked confidence when it came to applying for jobs.
Firstly, Melissa worked with Kyle to set up his resumé and his own Seek account, walking him through the various industries that could suit Kyle’s skills and experience.
One thing Kyle found difficult was staying organised and finding a routine. Melissa supported Kyle by setting short-term and long-term goals, even enrolling him in an online Alffie course to assist with his motivation. This helped transform Kyle’s outlook on life and left him excited about what employment could mean for his future.
Before long, Kyle found himself with an interview at The Jerky Co. Kyle’s interviewers were impressed with his skills and experience, offering him the role as a Beef Jerky Sorter a short time later.
Melissa continued to support Kyle following his successful interview, purchasing clothes and work boots for his first day at The Jerky Co.
Kyle thanked Melissa for her “persistence” and “support” throughout his journey, adding that having someone there beside him to offer support boosted his confidence and motivation.
