Lekshe came to atWork Australia having been unemployed for over a year. She brought with her extensive experience in truck driving, and in her most recent role she was a Bus Driver.
Lekshe’s job goals had changed though, she wanted to find work in Administration. Together with her atWork Australia Disability Employment Services Job Coach, Donna, Lekshe and Donna formulated a plan to get Lekshe where she wanted to be, in a new industry. Given that work prospects in Lekshe’s small seaside town were minimal, Lekshe also needed to upskill to be able to find work in the Administration space.
Donna helped Lekshe investigate different study options around Ulladulla, NSW, and then to apply for and complete her Certificate Three in Business Administration at the local TAFE. This took Lekshe 12 months to complete and was funded by atWork Australia. Donna was also a support to Lekshe, meeting her fortnightly to discuss how her studies were going and to continue job searching together, whilst Lekshe completed her certificate.
Now that Lekshe has graduated, Donna and Lekshe are onto the next goal, finding Lekshe good local work in administration, helping Lekshe to achieve her new goals. The future is looking bright for Lekshe with her new skills and extensive experience. She has begun interviewing at different organisations and is hopeful for a job offer very soon.
