Job Coach Martin, said, "Ling was grateful for the opportunities atWork Australia provided. These opportunities made Ling, her family and friends so proud of her."

There is a common phrase that everyone would know, “money doesn’t make you happy”. This may be true, although, facing constant financial difficulties can impact a person’s well-being. Before Ling came to atWork Australia due to her health barriers, she found it difficult to find suitable employment; the flow on effect impacted her financial situation and her mental health. This created additional concerns for a person who is already living with a health condition.

When Ling came to atWork Australia’s Disability Employment Services office in Marrickville, NSW, she had limited employment history, no qualifications, and found it difficult to learn new tasks. Luckily, Ling had come to the right place; somewhere she could get tailored support on her employment journey. Ling began working with her Job Coach, Martin, who took the time to get to know her and how he could best support her. Martin focused on supporting Ling to build her self-confidence and helped her to realise she had a lot to offer and could contribute to her community.

Over time, with the support of her Job Coach, Ling was able to progress and build her confidence to a point where she was ready to start work. In preparation to enter the workforce, atWork Australia assisted Ling to obtain her White Card, First Aid ticket, Police Check and a Working with Children Check.

Ling and her Job Coach, Martin, began applying for suitable vacancies. Soon enough, Ling secured a role as a Customer Service Assistant at Target. Ling is extremely excited about her new opportunity and has aspirations to progress within her role. Ling’s Job Coach, Martin, said, “I have enjoyed supporting Ling on this journey, her confidence continues to grow, and she is enjoying contributing to her community.”

To ensure Ling was prepared for her first day, atWork Australia provided funding to purchase new work clothes and shoes, as well as helping her to learn the public transport route to and from work. atWork Australia is excited to follow Ling’s journey and to continue supporting her to achieve her goals.

“Ling was grateful for the opportunities atWork Australia provided. These opportunities made Ling, her family and friends so proud of her,” said Martin.
