Workforce Australia client, Lorraine, entered the atWork Australia office in Northam, WA, looking for guidance and support on re-entering the workforce after spending several years out of employment.
Lorraine has been dealing with severe depression due to family trauma after mourning the losses of her son and daughter in law. She holds great amounts of anxiety over the future of her grandchildren; which led to her wanting to seek employment.
Within her initial appointment, she met with her Job Coach. The pair got to know each other and spent time discussing Lorraine’s employment past, her goals, as well as her ideal position. This session allowed her Job Coach to build rapport with Lorraine as she knew that she had troubles trusting people.
After this session, her Job Coach suggested that Lorraine attends our in-house wellness services as well as the Powered by Positivium program to assist in building confidence and healing her trauma.
After several sessions with her Job Coach, Lorraine felt like she was ready to start looking for a job. atWork Australia Job Coach worked alongside Employer Engagement Consultant, Sam, to find the perfect position for Lorraine. This would be a position that she not only loved but catered to her life.
Lorraine attended several interviews in this process. She was later successful in gaining a position at a local fast-food restaurant.
Lorraine broke the good news to the team in person, she was not only able to tell her Job Coach that she was successful in the interview, but she was also offered the general manager role rather than the team member role she interviewed for.

In Lorraine’s transition to employment, atWork Australia purchased both fuel vouchers and clothing for her.
