Eden, 30, had moved interstate to NSW with her children in search of a better life. As a single Indigenous woman, she felt anxious about the move; wondering if it really was best for her kids. However, she knew she wanted to do better, despite her barriers.
Eden had little work experience and felt financially insecure. So, she reached out to the atWork Australia team in Fairfield for support to achieve her goals.
Eden is living with several physical and emotional barriers, including anxiety, difficulty engaging with people, and was unable to deal with confronting situations.
Local Job Coach, Tamar, met with Eden and they discussed what she was hoping to achieve, so they could put together a plan to help get her there.
Tamar worked with Eden to help her build her confidence and helped her find the motivation she needed to take steps to be job ready.
Tamar reminded Eden of her goals when she was feeling down, and supported her financially with transport, grocery vouchers and some new clothing.
Before too long, Eden was feeling ready and Tamar introduced her to Employer Engagement Consultant, Brodie, who had a pick-packing role they thought would be perfect for Eden.
The team helped prepare Eden for the interview and she was successful. This helped amplify her confidence and happiness. Since starting the job, Eden is feeling stable, both financially and emotionally. She is relying on herself more and found that goal setting really helped orientate her.
With her changed financial situation, Eden has been able to purchase a car, allowing her to take the kids to school and do the grocery shopping with ease.
Eden is thankful for the support she has received so far, in particular the support she continues to receive now she is in work.
