When Nathan first connected with atWork Australia’s Workforce Australia team in Wollongong, he had no clear vision of what he wanted to do. He wasn’t quite sure how Workforce Australia would help him.
Nathan had an idea on what employment opportunities he wanted to pursue but couldn’t afford the drivers licence he needed for these roles.
When Nathan was introduced to his Job Coach, Magela, he shared his goal of wanting to obtain his driver’s licence and explained how he could not find the right support to help him achieve this.

Nathan began taking driving lessons and slowly worked towards achieving his Provisional licence. Throughout this time, Magela referred Nathan to atWork Australia’s internal program, MoneyMinded. This program educates participants on how to effectively manage their personal finances.
Since securing his driver’s licence and becoming more confident to manage his finances, Nathan and Magela have shifted their focus to securing employment.
Magela was tapping into her network of employers, advocating, and searching for opportunities for Nathan. Soon enough, Nathan began to secure interviews. The pair worked together to build Nathan’s confidence and assured he was ready to put his best foot forward for his interview.
“Although Nathan has been so far, unsuccessful in the interviews, he has taken a positive learning from each of the experiences,” said Magela.
“He is motivated to continue on his journey to find suitable employment.”
Nathan has made great progress since he began working with Magela and the pair will continue working towards Nathan’s goal of securing employment.
