With a history of depression and anxiety, the last thing Nathan needed was the stress that comes with unemployment. Unfortunately for the 34-year-old, that’s what he found himself facing.
Nathan’s unemployment was intensifying his depression to a point where it was almost crippling him. He was left struggling to see a way out of his situation, let alone finding work, which left him with low confidence and feeling helpless.

Steve immediately saw Nathan’s potential and set in motion a plan to get him back on his feet. One of the main things Nathan needed help with was his confidence, which was severely lacking.
Steve set up regular appointments with Nathan, which not only helped him feel supported, but also facilitated motivational discussions that boosted his confidence.
The pair also discussed some of the barriers Nathan felt prevented him from getting a job, while working hard to find methods to remove future barriers that he might face.
Nathan wasn’t sure about what he wanted to do, but through open and frequent chats with Steve, the pair identified key skills and traits that he could bring to job roles.
Before long, Nathan found his confidence lifting and his anxiousness disappearing. He was soon given a trial shift as a truck washer with Peppers Truck Wash. He was unsure whether he’d done enough at the trial shift.
Nathan was over the moon to hear that his employer was very impressed with him and had offered him the role. He is now loving his new job and has even received a pay increase for his efforts.
Steve is really proud of Nathan, describing his transformation as ‘incredible’, and praising him for his hard work and managing to regain his independence.
He said: “One word: incredible! Nathan is working so well and has truly got himself on his own two feet. He loves his work and has stabilised himself, providing a happy, stable and loving personal life.
Nathan still visits atWork Australia from time to time, but when he visits now, he does so with a spring in his step.”
Steve added: “Nathan comes in from time to time and always shares the biggest smile. Nathan has expressed his deep appreciation several times, but nothing can compare to seeing that smile he has now and that spring in his step when walks in.”
