Panni started working with atWork Australia, Noarlunga, SA, in 2019. She was living with mental health conditions and was not enjoying looking for employment.
She had low confidence and wasn’t sure what type of career path she was interested in. Panni was partnered with Disability Employment Services Job Coach, Katrina, who worked with her to begin to build her confidence.
“I started by encouraging Panni to continue with therapy and getting support for her health and wellbeing. Then we started looking at types of work she might be interested in,” said Katrina.“Over time Panni built confidence and when she was ready to look for work, we started looking for roles in the hospitality industry.”
While continuing working on confidence, Job Coach, Katrina, started calling potential employers to find a good fit for Panni.
She found an opportunity in a small community café, where she arranged a trial shift for Panni.
After the trial, she felt more confident again and enjoyed working with the team and found the employer to be supportive of a diverse workforce.
Panni enjoyed being employed, the role was the right fit for her.
atWork Australia supported Panni with work related clothing, and the employer by helping them access wage subsidies.
Unfortunately, the community café needed to close its doors and Panni was once again without work.
However, her entire outlook towards employment and work has now changed. She is feeling more confident than ever and is looking forward to job searching and gaining new employment.
“Panni has gained confidence and is now excited about looking for a new job; she is keen to keep up her confidence,” said Katrina.
