Paula stands between Job Coach and Employer Engagement team member. She says "I am very thankful for the support and opportunity given."

When Paula, 46, attended her first appointment with the Workforce Australia team in Albany, WA, she was not in a good mindset and needed support to get back on her feet.

Paula was introduced to her Job Coach, Taeleisha, and they started to pull together a plan and set some goals to work towards. Paula expressed interest in working as a hairdresser, thus, Taeleisha enrolled Paula into TAFE to get started.

Taeleisha introduced Paula to one of her colleagues, Philip, who knew of a local hairdresser who was looking for apprentices and referred Paula for the opportunity.

In the meantime, Taeleisha referred Paula to the in-house wellness services to help build her confidence and work through different ways to manage her mental health and anxiety.

Taeleisha says, “It was a rocky start for Paula; for her to come out the other side stronger and with more confidence has been amazing to see”.

When Paula found out she was successful in securing the apprenticeship she was surprised and excited; she was thankful to have been given the opportunity.

After being unemployed for three years, Paula says, “The future is bright, now”.

“I am very thankful for the support and opportunity given.”
