Friendly support was all Disability Employment Services client, Pearl*, needed to achieve her goals of re-entering the workforce.
After being faced with physical health issues, Pearl has spent the last two years out of the workforce. She was eager to return, despite her nerves. This excitement was shared with her Job Coach, Jaswin, within their first appointment together in the Hurstville, NSW, atWork Australia office.
Jaswin states, “When I first met Pearl, she was mentally and physically down and was worried that she might not be able to work. She wanted to but was not sure how to keep herself motivated.”
After sharing her concerns, Jaswin shared all the ways in which we can, and will, support Pearl to achieve her goals.
At the beginning of their journey together, the pair communicated via phone for her appointments. This was something that felt comfortable and safe for Pearl.
With time, Jaswin began suggesting to her to attend her appointments face-to-face, not only to boost her confidence, but to spend some time out of her house and in the local community.
Whilst also attending her atWork Australia appointments to work on her work skills and confidence, Pearl was also attending her physiotherapy appointments to improve her physical health.
Once her pain eased, and she felt ready to take the next step, the job hunt began. Pearl explained that she would like to look for jobs herself, and would seek the support of Jaswin, if she felt like she needed it.
Within no time at all, Pearl was delighted to share with Jaswin that she had secured a position as a par-time retail assistant. Jaswin was overjoyed for Pearl.
