Michael had been running his own business, until his circumstances meant he needed to give it up to look after his three children.
Giving up his business, and suddenly being out of work, had an impact on his mental health. He also struggled to find employment that would work with his new caring responsibilities.
Michael started working with Job Coach, Khala, at the Disability Employment Services office in Ballarat, Victoria.

By upskilling with qualifications, Michael landed a role as grounds keeper working 30-plus hours for a First Nations organisation. This role fits within his caring responsibilities and provides him with financial independence.
