Robert (38) was unemployment for two-to-three years. He held no formal qualifications and is living with an intellectual disability. He was determined to re-enter the workforce.
Robert was experiencing literacy and numeracy difficulties, which made it difficult to apply for jobs independently. He required assistance with updating his resume, applying for jobs and acquiring the required training and tickets, so he can apply for a Traffic Controller role.
Robert reached out to atWork Australia in Mowbray. Here, he met Job Coach Matthew, who assisted Robert in obtaining a White Card. Further, Job Coach Matthew and atWork Australia, provided financial assistance to Robert for fuel and work clothing.
Matthew also provided coaching assistance so Robert can complete his Employment Induction Documentation. Robert also completed a Traffic Control Course.
Matthew says: “Since working with Robert, he has always been eager to find employment in any field. We identified fields of interest and made that field suitable by accessing training. Robert was booked into a White Card course that we could support him with in our office. However, we found a local in-person course, which we found more suitable for Robert, and he completed it successfully.”
With the assistance of Matthew, Robert secured a Traffic Controller role.
When Matthew told Robert the good news, he: “was over the moon, passionate and excited to secure a position.”
Robert says: “I am extremely thankful to Matthew for supporting me and dedicating time to help me find employment.”
