Taleaha (25) lives with anxiety. She was ready to start her first permanent role after years of studying. However, the thought of stepping into an unknown environment caused hesitation and a lack of confidence.
She started working with Job Coach Sarah at the atWork Australia Claymore, NSW office, who supported her to create a strong action plan.
“Taleaha has always expressed a willingness to learn but lacked confidence and found it difficult to shake her hesitation due to her anxiety,” said Sarah.
We worked together to look at her employment goals and decided a production position would help her gain routine, balance, and gentle exposure to employment. She would be around minimal customers and the same co-workers, to help with her anxiety.
Taleaha was very excited to start her new role. She did experience some doubt and hesitation before her first shift, but slowly with regular conversations with Sarah and exposure to the environment, she began feeling more comfortable.
