Russell is living with depression and has been unemployed for five years. Russell experienced challenges with his mental health during lockdown and was also experiencing physical health barriers. He was undergoing a health maintenance plan.
Russell reached out to MBC Employment Services in Belconnen, ACT. Here, he met Employment Consultant Jaime. Jaime assisted Russell in the jobactive program through studying, coaching, interview skills, providing financial support for interview clothing as well as work related expenses.
Jaime also supported Russell through motivating him and encouraging him to build a routine, through this his confidence improved.
With Jaime’s assistance, Russell was able to secure a role as a Packer and General Hand at the historic and award winning Pialligo Estate Smokehouse. When Jaime told Russell the good news, he: “was very happy and excited.”
Jaime says: “Russell is enjoying his role and feels more social. He is establishing a routine and is also engaging in fitness. Every few days he gives me an update and says thank you. It is always amazing when you can find suitable employment for a client.”
MBC Employment Services and Russell’s employer have been very supportive. A stool was purchased for Russell so he can rest and have a break when required.
Russell says: “I am super happy; my confidence has improved and I am feeling better overall. My mental and physical health has improved with this new employment.”
