Single father, Jason, from Drysdale, Victoria had let his past hold him back from his employment goals. After working with Job Coach Daina from atWork Australia, he now has stability in his life thanks to secure employment.
Workforce Australia client, Jason had been unemployed for over a year. He had low self-esteem and confidence due to some previous experiences when speaking about his past with employers.
This made Jason reluctant to meet with employers; coupled with his need to find suitable work to fit around his caring responsibilities.
Together, Daina and Jason co-designed an approach to help him reach his employment goals, this included interview coaching and working hard to find the right option for Jason with an employer who was supportive and a good fit.
With the help of the Employer Engagement team member, Kylie, they advocated on Jason’s behalf, directly to an employer who ended up hiring him as a part-time factory hand.
atWork Australia supported Jason purchase work related clothing, including shoes so he was ready to go on his first day at work.

“He has had a boost of confidence and is happy working part-time as a factory hand. He now has a sense of purpose and the financial stability is helping his family.”
