Kerriann first met Job Coach, Anne, at the Mandurah, WA, atWork Australia office for her first appointment in the ParentsNext program.
A single mother to three children, Kerriann had low confidence, and due to past trauma, was living with mental health conditions. She arrived at the office feeling very anxious and unsure of herself.
Anne referred Kerriann into atWork Australia’s in-house Wellness Services to speak to a professional to support her health and wellbeing.
She was also referred into an internal program to help her identify her goals in employment and her personal goals, along with her skills and needs. The program supported Kerriann to complete a resume, something she hadn’t had for a while.
Kerriann’s participation in these programs, along with coaching and mentoring from her Job Coach, began to improve her self-confidence and she was ready to take the next step in her career journey.
“Kerriann felt she would benefit from gaining additional skills to support her in preparing to return to work,” said Anne.
“We talked about types of industries and roles she might want, which then led her into deciding to study a Certificate III in Business.”
During this time, Anne also encouraged Kerriann to attend local playgroups with her child; building her social support networks and to improve her confidence.
Since her commencement with ParentsNext in October 2021, Kerriann has achieved goals and is focused on her future and finding her ideal employment opportunity.
“ParentsNext has provided Kerriann with employability skills, resources on everything from general health and wellbeing to building confidence and motivation, plus identifying and acting on her personal, and professional goals,” said Anne.
“She is looking forward to gaining ongoing meaningful and sustainable employment once her children are in school.”
