Two women stand in front of an atWork Australia Banner. Quote reads" Mochammat is feeling confident in achieving her employment goals, and said it was the little steps that make a big impact in someone’s life" said her Job Coach Shrupity

For Workforce Australia client, Mochammat, English is her second language, with Bengali her first language. With her language barrier, along with her limited employment history, she was finding it difficult to find work in Australia.

She started working with atWork Australia’s Lakemba office, and Job Coach, Shuprity, feeling nervous and unsure of herself.

As soon as she sat down, bi-lingual Shuprity spoke to the client in her own language and worked to calm her nerves, assuring her they could take their time, and she would answer all questions Mochammat had for her.

For the first few appointments, Shuprity and Mochammat got to know each other, and Mochammat shared she had applied for many roles but often received rejections due to her lack of experience.

To begin with, they worked on improving Mochammat’s English language skills by enrolling her in a SEE program. While she was participating in this course, Shuprity worked on improving her resume, because while Mochammat didn’t have much work experience she had many life skills, and transferrable skills they could include.

As her confidence grew, Mochammat was invited to attend atWork Australia internal programs, including Jobs Now, a pre-employment program that would support Mochammat to learn how to market herself and practice her English skills.

With these new skills and an updated resume, she was then invited to First Steps to Success, another atWork Australia event that brings local employers who are ready to hire, and external services into our offices to connect clients with.

As Mochammat continued her job search, she received another few rejections due to lack of experience, but she remained confident and believed she would reach her employment goals despite these rejections.

Then, an employer called her with a work trial which is starting shortly.

The atWork Australia team are currently working with Mochammat to prepare her for the trial, including helping her obtain a police check and working with children check.

Every year, atWork Australia help thousands of clients like Mochammat expand their skills and qualifications to help them gain the right job with the right employer. Call us today on 1300 080 856 or enquire online to find out how we can help you meet your career goals.
