Over 100 jobseekers eagerly attended the inaugural Women’s Hub held at the atWork Australia jobactive office in Joondalup yesterday.

The dedicated Women’s Hub offered specific support services for female jobseekers in a friendly, supportive environment, and followed the success of our recent atWork Australia’s Youth Hubs.

The day was a huge success for both the jobseekers who came along as well as for the businesses and organisations that attended.

Greenhouse Training and Arrow Training secured over 20 expressions of interest for their respective training programs, while Go Catalyst Recruitment were delighted to secure several leads for employment opportunities. We also saw six referrals to Star recruitment for their hospitality internships.

More than 30 resumes were updated with the Jobactivator program, and Centrelink were in attendance to help several clients with mygov accounts and payment questions.

Our event sponsor Dress for Success had a fabulous moment where they were able to assist a jobseeker who reported that after 12 months out of the workforce she was starting work the very next day thanks to the help of her atWork Australia employment consultant. The Dress for Success team wanted to make sure she had a work wardrobe ready to go so that she can feel super confident in her first week. They made a quick phone call and booked her in for a styling session the same day at the Dress for Success head office in Subiaco. She headed off and met with Dress for Success volunteers Suzanne and Sue where she walked away with a whole new professional wardrobe. The team also booked more than 10 people in for styling sessions in the coming days.

The success of the Women’s Hub event is credit to the hard work of atWork Australia jobactive staff, the organisations and businesses who attended, as well as the jobseekers who were able to come and get practical support to help them in their employment goals.

atWork Australia hope to be able to extend this concept to our other sites soon.
