After almost four years of unemployment, Dennis had overcome his personal barriers and was keen to look at fly in, fly out work (FIFO) at the Western Australia mine sites.
From Alexander Heights in Western Australia, Dennis wanted to move away from his old career of bricklaying and needed some support in upskilling and training to achieve his new goal of FIFO work.
He connected with Job Coach Barry at the local atWork Australia office, who supported him to obtain his Traffic Management qualifications and Western Power ticket.
Barry also connected Dennis to local Employer Engagement Consultant Crystal to keep an eye out for an opportunity for Dennis.
Dennis had previously applied for FIFO work however he found the long and complicated process of applying too overwhelming and tedious.
But with the support of Job Coach Barry and Employer Engagement Consultant Crystal, Dennis was able to apply for a FIFO role at Techforce Personnel.
“When Dennis got his traffic management position he was “delighted” as his hard work paid off and he was getting back into the workforce,” said Barry.
atWork Australia also supported Dennis with his medicals and a full set of Personal Protective Equipment he needed for his new role.
Dennis is now working week on, week off at his dream role and thanks the team at atWork Australia for their support.
Dennis felt that he was supported through this training and appreciated the compassion and patience of his Job Coach.
“I am very happy to be employed in this current role and look forward to the future prospects that are open to me. I am able to spend time with family, which is important to me and earn a good living on my week at work,” said Dennis.
