From regaining his licence to being promoted, 56-year-old, Peter, proves to be an unstoppable force.
After spending the past several months out of work, Disability Employment Services client, Peter, attended the Glenroy, VIC, atWork Australia office looking for tailored, professional support.
Job Coach, Vilda, was paired with Peter to assist him on his journey to meaningful employment. Within their first consultation together, the pair got to know one another, whilst also discussing how atWork Australia will be able to support Peter on this journey.
Peter outlined that he has had a tough couple of months; spending the majority of this time in a critical situation. He needed friendly support, and that is just what Vilda provided.
As a first port of call, they worked on regaining his licence back, this would ensure that Peter could once again, travel safely.
Next came the fun part; finding suitable job opportunities based on Peter’s past employment, skills and values. From here, Vilda and Peter created a tailored resume to highlight his skills that he would bring to any workplace.
To further build his resume, Vilda assisted in gaining his Working With Children Check.
Many employers were impressed with his resume, so Peter was invited into several interviews. Unfortunately, he was unsuccessful in these positions, but that only built his confidence and resilience within this process.
He persevered and was later successful in an interview with a local employer as a Cleaner.
Within this next phase of his journey, Vilda was able to assist Peter obtain his Police Check as well as utilise the in-office laptops to complete his induction processes.
Since beginning his job, his hard work and love for his job has been recognised by his employer. He has been promoted to a Maintenance Officer within the company.
