Bethany (25) had been unemployed for six years. She lives with disability and relies on her support workers for transport, limiting her employment options.
Bethany was connected with atWork Australia’s Disability Employment Services in Lower Hunter, NSW. Here she started working with her personal job support team of Job Coach, Rachael, Employer Engagement Consultant, Ashleigh, and In-Work Support Coach, Kelly.
Job Coach, Rachael, supported Bethany to become work ready by supporting her write her resume and cover letter and referring her to our Jobs Now program.
Jobs Now helped Bethany practice interviews and feel prepared to start work.
Together, they worked with Employer Engagement Consultant, Ashleigh, who had an employer in mind for Bethany. After meeting Bethany, the employer created a cleaning role just for her.
“Bethany was very excited when she was told about getting the job. She was over the moon and could not stop smiling. Bethany gets a lot of joy from working and she likes to be busy,” said Job Coach Rachael.
atWork Australia supplied Bethany with all the equipment she would need to get started. Helped with her police check and provided her support workers with fuel vouchers to help get her to work.
Once she had started in her role, Bethany was further supported by In-Work Support coach, Kelly, who supported her with additional on-the-job training.
Bethany said that since starting with atWork Australia her life has changed. She appreciates the atWork Australia team working together to help her find sustainable and meaningful work where she is happy.
