With his Autism presenting as a major barrier, Thomas hadn’t been able to find employment throughout his whole life.
As a voluntary client of atWork Australia, due to being on the Disability Support Pension (DSP), Thomas joined our Croydon office, meeting his Senior Job Coach, Lidija. Lidija wanted to help Thomas to build up his confidence and trust in the job searching process.
Together, Lidija and Thomas worked on identifying suitable roles, discussed how to apply for jobs, as well as how to positively present to prospective employees.
Noting he wasn’t receiving any responses from his own search, Lidija took to reverse marketing Thomas to businesses specifically within the Laboratory Industry.
A company called “DTS Food Assurances” specialising in testing, inspection and certification services for food and beverage industries requested for Thomas’ resume to be sent through.
It resulted in a telephone interview where Thomas was successfully offered a job as an Analyst for 20 hours per week.
“Thomas was extremely ecstatic to be given this wonderful opportunity and commence meaningful work,” said Lidija.
“It was certainly one job that provided me with heartfelt satisfaction with Thomas giving me huge hugs of appreciation.”
