Trevor is living with depression and has experienced substance abuse. After being unemployed for two years, he was determined to get back to work and make a change in his life.
He came to atWork Australia with strong determination but needed support and guidance. He met Job Coach Rupa, who worked closely with Trevor.
After three months of perseverance and patience, Trevor passed his drug and alcohol test, ready for employment. He was interested in Traffic Management Control and with the help of Rupa was enrolled in a course that he completed successfully.
The course boosted Trevor’s confidence and while he didn’t find work in Traffic Management, he was open to other roles.
“I’ve seen great progress in Trevor, and a willingness and determination to obtain employment,” said Rupa. “My experience with Trevor has always been positive. He is very kind and goes out of his way to help others.”
Rupa spoke with Trevor about an available loader position with Golipo foods. It was a role Trevor hadn’t considered but was keen to give it a try. Trevor has since thrived in his new role.
“I am very happy I didn’t get the Traffic Control position in the end, as this loader position with Galipo foods is amazing and I wouldn’t have it any other way,” said Trevor.
“I am loving this role and feel more confident. My mental health has improved. I am establishing a routine and engaging in fitness. I am feeling great overall after getting this job.”
